Do you have accounting experience in a legal environment? Our client in Brampton is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join their law firm. The successful candidate will be highly proficient in PC Law and will be familiar with other popular accounting programs.  The firm needs someone with solid experience, exceptional organizational skills, and is attentive to detail.

Primary Duties Include:

  • Reconcile PC law and Billings
  • Process and post accounts payable invoices and client disbursements
  • Update records and details of financial business transactions
  • Coding and posting Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Job Costing, Bank and credit card Reconciliations and bring the General Ledger to Trial Balance
  • Submit monthly HST, WSIB, EHT & Source deductions
  • Meeting deadlines for A/P payment due dates, including Hydro, Phone Bills, Credit Card payments etc.
  • Preparing all aspects of payroll
  • Completion of year end T-4’s and all Government Reconciliations
  • Effectively contribute to administrative operations of the office when needed, including answering telephones, filing etc. while seeking improvements in all aspects of the office functions.
  • Verify accuracy of invoices
  • Maintain filing and storage
  • Proactively identifying billing performance problems and opportunities
  • Generating reports and reviewing same with management on a regular basis for the purposes of monitoring business performance, and identifying problems and opportunities
  • Other related duties as required

Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a law firm or professional services firm
  • Must be proficient in PC Law, Excel, and MS Office Suite.  Experience with other accounting programs such as QuickBooks would be an asset
  • Experience with the principles and requirements of trust accounting
  • Post-secondary education with concentration in accounting/bookkeeping
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • High level of accuracy, ability to work efficiently
  • Ability to work as a team and multi-task as well as independently under tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication, both oral and writte
  • Experience in the preparation of financial statements
  • High standard of integrity with exceptional analytical skills
  • Proven ability as a team player and leader in a dynamic environment
