Our client in Brampton is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic highly experienced Senior Family Law Clerk specializing in Family Law. If you have long term experience as a true front line law clerk then we need you. Further experience in Civil Litigation work would be considered a major plus.

As a Senior Family Law Clerk working in family law, your role will see you performing a variety of duties to assist two or more lawyers in the running of their practice.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

These duties include but are not limited to:

  • Handle files from receipt of instructions to completion
  • Conduct the necessary due diligence on each file
  • Report directly to lawyers responsible for files and client concerns
  • Document production
  • Prepare correspondence
  • Manage progress of transactions & diaries
  • Prepare reporting letters and final documents
  • Drafting and scribing, typing legal documents
  • Blacklining and revising large documents
  • Scanning, PDF and hyperlink documents
  • Prepare and file court documents
  • Assist with preparation for mediations and trials
  • Prepare financial statements, net family property statements, disclosures, contracts and other legal documents
  • Collect and prepare disclosures for clients, reviewing disclosures received, prepare exhibits for affidavits, put together continuing Records
  • Assemble factums, statements of law, briefs of authorities, draft orders, trial preparation
  • Liaise professionally with clients and opposing lawyers
  • Organize and expedite flow of work
  • Calendar management, scheduling meetings
  • All other duties required

Required Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 10+ years of working as a Law Clerk in the specialty of Family Law
  • Experience in Civil Litigation a plus and desired
  • Possess a Legal Assistant Diploma and have excellent word processing skills and high proficiency in MS Office.
  • Excellent understanding of the Family Law Act
  • Solid knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and is a detail-oriented individual with strong proofreading skills
  • Personable, friendly with a dedicated work ethic
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Divorcemate, and PCLaw
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Results and detail oriented with a positive outlook
  • Work in a team to come up with solutions for clients
